FAQ
+ Can I order a Natural Gas or LP Gas range?
All NXR gas ranges are factory Natural Gas. An LP Conversion Kit can be ordered separately for liquid propane option.
+ Does your NXR Professional range come in any colors?
No, it is only available in stainless steel.
+ Do I need to install the anti-tip bracket?
Yes, we recommend to install your anti tip bracket. You may be held legally responsible if the anti-tip bracket is not installed and any damage or injury occurs due to it not being installed.
+ Do you need ventilation over the range.
Yes, all ranges, need Range hood ventilation.
+ Can I put a downdraft ventilator behind your Professional range?
No, we strongly recommend a Professional Series hood with all NXR Professional ranges.
+ Oven light is not working properly.
+ Oven light doesn’t turn off.
Check your thermostat, thermostat replacement might be needed.
+ What are the racks for in my oven?
This allows people to safely handle heavy dishes without the risk of tipping over (such as large, roasted turkeys, etc.).
+ Should I leave the oven door open while broiling?
No, this is not necessary. All modern ovens require that the oven door be closed while broiling or using the oven. This reduces the amount of heat in the kitchen as well as the risk of melting your knobs. Please do not leave the oven door open for cooling.
+ MY BAKED GOODS ARE NOT COMING OUT AS INTENDED. THEY ARE OVERDONE
OR UNDERDONE.
This may be due to an error in the baking technique (human error) or the oven may not be performing optimally. Performing the Biscuit/Cookie Bake Test will let you know if the cause is human error or oven error. We use this test to help develop our ovens!
Biscuit/Cookie Bake Test:
Purchase Pillsbury Grands Biscuits or Pillsbury Sugar Cookies. They are “unbaked” and can be found in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores. We will bake these in the oven.
Use a shiny, aluminum cookie sheet that is 12 x 15” or larger.
Follow package instructions for laying the biscuits/cookies out on the cookie sheet. Failure to follow package recommended spacing will negatively affect bake results.
Do not put the cookie sheets into the oven until PREHEAT is finished.
If baking one cookie sheet, place it on rack 2. If baking two cookie sheets at once, place them on racks 1 and 2.
Follow package instructions for baking time.
Do not open the oven door once the biscuits/cookies have been put into the oven. Use the oven light and window to view the biscuits/cookies if you wish.
At the minimum baking time listed on the package, check the baking results through the window. If the biscuits/cookies are not baked to satisfaction, check them every minute and allow them to bake more until fully baked or until the maximum baking time listed on the package has been reached, whichever happens first.
If the biscuits/cookies turn out well during the baking times noted on the package – this means the oven is performing properly and does not need a service visit.
If the biscuits/cookies turn out overdone or underdone during the baking times noted on the package – this means the oven needs to be checked by an authorized NXR servicer.
Please schedule a service visit by calling our customer service at 1-888-909-8818.
+ HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN A 20-LB TURKEY IS DONE INSIDE AND SAFE TO SERVE?
Use a portable meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It is safe to serve when it reads 165 degrees in the stuffing or 175 degrees in the turkey thigh. Remove the turkey from the oven and allow it to stand covered with foil for 15 - 20 minutes before taking the final reading.
For more information about food safety for poultry, call the USDA's Meat and Poultry Hotline: 1-800-535-4555.
+ WARM AIR OR STEAM IS COMING OUT OF THE OVEN VENT.
Don’t worry, this is normal. Do not block the vent or the oven burner cover vents.
+ IS IT NORMAL TO SEE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE OVENS THE FIRST TIME THE
OVEN IS BEING USED?
Yes. Ovens have factory oils that will burn off. Rid oil faster by putting the oven on bake for 15 more minutes or by wiping oven with hot sudsy water before use.
+ WHAT PANS ARE PREFERRED TO USE FOR BAKING COOKIES?
+ WHEN IS IT NECESSARY TO PREHEAT THE OVEN?
Preheat is necessary for delicate foods that have short baking times, such as cookies, cakes, and muffins. These types of foods need more precision timing for good results. Conversely, roasts and casseroles do not require as precise timing.
+ HOW CAN I GET THE BEST RESULTS FROM CONVECTION COOKING?
Use low-sided, metal pans so that the heat can reach as much of the food's surface as possible.
+ WHAT IS CONVECTION?
An oven that has a fan, which constantly recirculates the heated air has "Convection" mode. This moving air strips away the natural thermal barriers that surround food and allows the heat to start cooking sooner. An advantage: moving air dries the food's outside surface, while the inside remains moist.
+ IT IS HARD TO IGNITE THE GAS RINGS.
The burner cap that covers the igniter may have become slightly displaced, thus making it difficult to ignite the gas rings. Check that all burner caps are properly placed.

Good Position Bad Position
Ignition will be quicker if a cooking pan is in place on the grate.
+ IGNITION SPARK OPERATES CONTINUOUSLY.
The knobs may be in the “Lighting/Spark” position. Turn the knobs to the “Off” position.
Or, the knobs might be stuck on the knob seat bezel you need to reposition the bezel by adjusting the 2 screws (see picture below).

Make sure there is no draft in the room. Select models have a re-ignition function, which is part of the flame recognition feature. The re-ignition function will attempt to reignite a flame which has been blown out or disturbed.
This may be caused by the presence of water due to cleaning the cooking surface with excess water or from water boiling over onto the cooking surface and entering the appliance. This problem will cure itself once the cooking surface dries out. If the problem persists after several days, please schedule a service visit by calling our customer service at 1-888-909-8818.
If you have tried all of the above and the problem continues, you will need an authorized service technician to dismantle the appliance and repair it. You should never attempt to dismantle a gas appliance unless you are officially qualified to do so. Please call our customer service to schedule a service visit.
+ IGNITERS SPARK EVEN THOUGH KNOBS ARE IN THE OFF POSITION.
When an electrical power connection has been activated at the first power up or reconnected after an outage, the igniters may spark once or twice even though all burner knobs are in the off position. If igniters continue to spark, please schedule a service visit by calling our customer service at 1-888-909-8818.

+ BURNER FLAME GOES OUT UNEXPECTEDLY.
Make sure there is no draft in the room. Liquid may have boiled over onto the cooking surface and burner caps. Use a soft cloth to wipe away any spills.
The burner cap may have been moved. Check and reposition the burner cap into its proper position.
The burner ports may be wet or clogged with food particles. Make sure the burner port is dry. Clear clogged burner ports with a wire or straightened paper clip.
If your gas cooktop was converted to LP gas, please check the regulator or low flame adjustment to ensure they are correct.
+ BURNER KEEPS MAKING A CLICKING SOUND.
The burner caps may have been moved, see picture (A) below. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned, see picture (B) below. Make sure your igniter is not loose, see picture (C) below.

Ignition will be quicker if a cooking pan is in place on the grate. Ignite the gas at full and once alight, turn down to around 50%. It should lock on within 6 seconds.
The main gas supply may not be turned on. Check to ensure that it is turned on.
Does the burner click when the burner knob is in the “on” position? If yes, you may have a wiring issue at the outlet that the appliance is connected to. Turn off the main gas supply and contact a qualified electrician to fix this.
Does the burner click when the burner knob is in the “off” position? If yes, check for the following:
Burner caps are properly placed and the igniter is not wet or dirty.
Check to see if the regulator supplied with the unit is installed properly. The arrow on the regulator should be pointing to the appliance. Please call a professional installer or schedule a service visit with our customer service at 1-888-909-8818 if the regulator has not been installed properly.

+ A GAS SMELL IS COMING FROM MY NXR RANGE.
The burner knobs may not be completely turned off. Turn the knobs to the “off” position. If the smell does not go away after doing this, turn the main gas supply off and schedule a service visit by calling our customer service at 1-888-909-8818.
Does the smell disappear when the burner is lit? It is normal to smell gas for up to four seconds after igniting the burner. The smell will go away after the burner is lit. If the smell does not go away when the burner is lit, turn the main gas supply off and call our customer service to schedule a service visit.
+ FLAMES ARE TOO HIGH OR ARE UNEVEN.
The burner caps may not be installed properly or may have been moved. Make sure the burner caps are properly positioned.
+ MY GAS BURNERS HAVE THE AUTOMATIC RE-IGNITION FEATURE. OCCASIONALLY ONE BURNER WILL NOT LIGHT WHILE ALL THE OTHERS DO LIGHT. WHAT COULD BE WRONG?
The burner cap is out of alignment. Adjust the cap so that the tab fits into the notch in the burner base. See pictures below.

Improperly Positioned Properly Positioned
+ THE FOOD SOMETIMES COOKS UNEVENLY - THE PAN GETS HOTTER IN ONE SECTION THAN ANOTHER. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
The base of the pan may be warped or the pan has not been placed over the center of the burner. Check your burner covers make sure that the ventilation is not covered or clogged.
+ WHY DOES THE FOOD BURN ON THE BOTTOM IN ONE AREA OF THE PAN?
When the pan becomes hot, the base may warp causing it to be in partial contact with the heating surface. The section of the pan that touches the heating surface is hotter than the section that is not in contact.`
+ WHY WOULD I NEED EXTRA LOW®
To keep a consistent or low simmer, this prevents your food from burning or scorching.
